A copy is hosted at datatorch/worm-segmentation-bbbc010 (hub catalog, read 2026-10-27): 200 images (each well's brightfield and GFP image as separate files), with the 1,407 hand-corrected per-worm masks converted to polygons. Each worm is placed on both images of its well, so the copy holds 2,814 polygons, in two classes for the treated and untreated columns. Counts are from the hosted copy, not the source page.

C. elegans Worm Segmentation (BBBC010)
C. elegans live/dead assay from an anti-infective screen (BBBC010v1, Broad Bioimage Benchmark Collection). 100 wells of a 384-well control plate, each imaged in brightfield and GFP (200 images, 696x520, 16-bit TIFF), with 1,407 hand-corrected per-worm masks converted to polygon annotations for overlapping-worm instance segmentation; each worm polygon is placed on both channel images of its well, giving 2,814 polygons. Columns 1-12 are ampicillin-treated positive controls (mostly live worms) and columns 13-24 untreated negative controls (mostly dead), carried as two classes. License: CC0 1.0 (public domain). Ground truth
- Foreground masks, corrected by hand (BBBC010_v1_foreground.zip).
- One mask per worm (BBBC010_v1_foreground_eachworm.zip).
- Live or dead follows from the well column (see the FAQ).
Published results (Wählby et al., 2012): 81% with automatically found foreground, 94% with the corrected foreground.

Frequently asked questions
How are live and dead worms labeled in BBBC010?
By plate position. Columns 1 to 12 are ampicillin-treated positive controls (mostly live). Columns 13 to 24 are untreated negative controls (mostly dead). There is no separate per-image label file.
Does BBBC010 have per-worm masks?
Yes. BBBC010_v1_foreground_eachworm.zip has one binary mask per worm, for separating overlapping or clustered worms.
What is the license of BBBC010?
CC0. The contributors waived copyright and related rights.
