Questions we get most often.#
Do I need to talk to sales to start?
No. Free and Team both self-serve from the signup page. You only need to talk to us for Enterprise (self-hosted or air-gapped deployment, custom limits, compliance posture) or for custom SOW development.
Who counts as a builder?
Anyone who creates or edits the structure of your work: projects, pipelines, label schemas, storage connections. On Team, people who only complete assigned work (reviewing, annotating, grading) don’t need a paid seat, however many of them there are. Enterprise is priced per provisioned account instead: every role counts the same, and priority support is part of the fee.
Can I change plans?
Yes, upgrade or downgrade anytime from your account settings. Annual customers get a prorated credit applied to the new term.
Are public projects really unlimited on Free?
Yes. Public projects are unlimited on every plan, including Free. Build and share datasets in the open with no seat count and no trial clock. Paid plans add private projects, collaborators, and cloud storage connections.
Do you train on my data or see my models?
No. Your annotations and uploaded data stay private to your account. Pipelines run your own models on your own runners, so DataTorch never sees your model weights or inference outputs. On a self-hosted or air-gapped install, everything stays inside your environment.
What’s included in support?
Free is community-supported. Team is email support. Enterprise includes priority support in the per-account fee: same-day response, bug fixes, and deployments for existing functionality. A contractual uptime SLA comes with a dedicated deployment.
Can I get a custom feature built?
Yes, see Professional Services above. Standard SOW projects start at $10K, with out-of-scope work billed at $180/hour. Features built for you remain available for as long as your subscription is active.
Annual or monthly billing?
Both. Annual prepay saves you the equivalent of two months (~17% off). Most teams pick annual once they’ve used the product for a quarter.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You get a 30-day export window after cancellation on all plans. Enterprise customers have custom data-residency and retention terms in their contract.
